Active Clinical R&D: UK & West Africa

Democratizing Digital Pathology at the Edge.

Abbe Labs engineers AI-powered Fourier Ptychographic Microscopy (FPM) systems. We replace $50,000 legacy scanners with $1,000 edge-compute diagnostic rigs to automate the detection of Malaria, NTDs, and Cervical Cancer in decentralized clinics.

A Paradigm Shift in MedTech

Legacy optical microscopes are fragile, expensive, and require chemical staining. We are bypassing the 800,000 missing lab professionals in emerging markets by building a highly scalable, automated hardware-as-a-service infrastructure.

Microscopist Shortage

Emerging markets cannot train their way out of this bottleneck. Technicians are overwhelmed by daily manual smear reads. Hardware alone cannot solve this; autonomous edge-AI analysis is mandatory.

100x

Cost Reduction

By utilizing computational physics (FPM), we strip out expensive high-magnification lenses and mechanical motors. This drops the COGS from a $50,000 traditional WSI scanner to a hyper-scalable $1,000 chassis.

Diagnostic Flywheel

The hardware acts as a CapEx deployment vehicle. Our core revenue is generated through a high-margin, pay-per-test recurring software model, capturing value directly at the decentralized edge.

Software-Defined Optics

Our proprietary rig flashes programmable LED matrices from multiple angles. We use computational phase-retrieval algorithms to reconstruct high-resolution, wide-field cellular data without chemical stains.

Offline Edge-Compute

Powered by NVIDIA Jetson modules, our machine learning models run 100% locally. We automate the analysis of blood smears and cytology slides instantly, completely removing the reliance on unstable cloud infrastructure.

Clinical Validation

Transitioning from prototype to ISO 13485 medical device. We are actively executing clinical pilots in Lagos, Nigeria, establishing the regulatory framework (CE-IVDR/FDA) for commercial launch.
